Pehchaan: Safe and Unsafe Touch

Learning about Safe, Unsafe, and Unwanted touch is a critical element in not just understanding potential dangers but also the very fundamentals of consent. On 30th June, we conducted a workshop with students between the ages of 5 – 10 years to help them understand the difference between these concepts.

The workshop began with a discussion on body image and the different parts of our body. Further it centered around identifying the differences between safe, unsafe, and unwanted touches and talking about how they make us feel and what one should do if they are in such a situation. The students were also introduced to the concept of communicable diseases and how they can spread from one person to another through a fun activity (Hint: it involves glitter). Methods of prevention of such diseases was also discussed. The students were enthusiastic and interactive, which is key in making any workshop a success.
