“When we launched the S.A.C.R.E.D Project, our inspiration behind it was more than just the impact numbers that we could generate. When I was first intimated about the details of the project, I knew this experience was going to be way more special than any other volunteering experience. The work that we do through this project is something that a lot of us were unaware of, as kids. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I have stood on-ground, with a volunteer or an institution head coming in and telling me, “I wish we knew this when we were kids”. Sometimes, while delivering these sessions, it feels as if we are trying to make amends for the wrongs we, or someone we knew, faced as kids. It is as if we are expressing our concern, our love, our consideration for our inner child, and for all these kids sitting in front of us and all the kids of the generations to come.”

"Pratisandhi conducted an immersive session with our students about consent, safe and unsafe touch, and recognizing one's safety network. The dedicated volunteers who conducted the session explained the heavy and complex concepts in concise and child-friendly language. The session was structured to maximize interaction and student involvement, or example, students were provided worksheets that they annotated to build their understanding of privacy and body parts, and they were provided colouring books at the end of the session, which were centred around the topics discussed during the session. All of this helped students retain a lot of information from the session, and these concepts are now part of regular class discussions and morning meeting chats with the Fellows. The session built much-needed awareness for the students at a crucial age, and helped normalize conversations around these often taboo topics."
