Are you curvy enough? Debunking penis myths.

Are you big? small? is it average? is it curvy?  are questions which have “penetrated” almost every man’s life, while some have been consumed and thus been affected, a very small population is aware of the size myths of the penis.

The cultural appropriation of “normal” penis size has birthed a genre of factually incorrect information alongside perpetuating “unrealistic” beauty standards in men, which as a consequence has impacted their physical, mental and social life. The most conventional knowledge of the penis is culturally formulated and goes against scientific factuality and therefore there’s a need for debunking them.

MYTHS.

  1.       Larger penis is always the best penis – the opposite of the popular narrative penis size doesn’t determine sexual pleasure or satisfaction, it may provide more physical stimulation, but still can’t guarantee a better sexual experience. sexual experience can get hindered due to pain and discomfort caused by a larger penis.
  2.     Penis size can be altered through supplements and drugs– there is no scientific evidence which substantiates the claim of altering the size through drugs and supplements. They can cause damage and permanent defection in the body.
  3.     Excessive masturbation shrinks penis size– The penis is made up of three main chambers, two of which are called the corpora cavernosa. These chambers are responsible for the erectile function of the penis, and they fill with blood during an erection. Some people believe that excessive masturbation can cause these chambers to shrink, leading to a smaller penis. However, there is no evidence to support this claim. The size of the penis is determined by genetics and is not affected by sexual activity or lack thereof. The penis will not shrink or change size as a result of masturbation.
  4.       The ideal penis is straight. – regardless of what the mass population perpetuates, the shape and structure of the penis varies from person to person, depending on factors like genetics, environment and several others.
  5.       Penis size determines fertility – Penis size does not correlate with fertility. A man’s ability to conceive a child depends on the quality and quantity of his sperm.

Peyronie Disease

  •   While the curves and measurements don’t hold prominent significance in sexual and emotional life, it’s still necessary to be aware of factors which might alter it. The most unknown among them is Peyronie disease.
  • It is a condition in which fibrous scar tissues form in the deeper tissues under the skin of the penis. It is caused due to repeated penile injury caused due to sex or physical activity.
  •   While it’s been established that penises vary in size and shape and curve, in Peyronie disease the bend is significant and may occur along with pain or interfere with sexual function.
  •   Medication or surgery is recommended if the symptoms persist or worsen.

Final Words~

While the continuous production of false information persists, especially about the penis, which is also seen as a sign of ego and pride, it thus becomes essential to be educated both generally and medically about one’s body. Diseases which are not mainstream need to find their place in our daily conversation to ensure a much healthier life. So the question of size transforms into a question of general body health, where more than size, shape and structure, the general body health matters more.
